As in all concert programs of the Nalšia folk ensemble, this one will also feature songs sung in the last century but still remembered today, nostalgic romances, and the ensemble will intrigue the audience with more modern, sometimes even playful interpretations of time-tested popular melodies.
Nalšia strives to sing popular romances in the way they were traditionally sung by people in Lithuania. However, sometimes the exceptional, enchanting lyricism of the most beautiful romances and the depth of the poetry call for a special musical expression. Therefore, daring to deviate from authentic musical and singing traditions, the ensemble twists the melodies and rhythms of the romances in newer, more contemporary ways, seeking to breathe new life into them, elevating them to the level of works worthy of experimentation, unconventional interpretation, and high musical culture. Here, Nalšia is beautifully accompanied by their long-time friend, the professional and creative performer Rytas Lingė (piano). His music, together with the arrangements of songs and romances, enriches them with new and unexpected colors.
The concert program “Do you remember this melody…?” seems to crown the renaissance of romances that began in recent years, providing space for their unique and creative development. But even now, romances sung in a more modern style remain what they have always been – the song of our hearts.
