From August 6 to September 22, the Raudondvaris Manor Arts Incubator will host the exhibition “Between Waves and Peaks” by artist Kristina Žulkienė. 🎨🖼️
About the artworks and technique
All graphic works on display are unique, original pieces, hand-drawn with pen and ink on high-quality hot-pressed cotton paper. Each artwork is created meticulously through thousands of hand-drawn lines, making every piece one of a kind. The subtle rhythm of the drawing process, its imperfections, and the artist’s personal touch remain visible in every work.
Some of the artworks are created using a layering technique: individual segments are carefully cut, arranged, and assembled into new multi-layered compositions that add depth, texture, and a subtle three-dimensional quality. This process transforms each piece from a drawing into a carefully constructed artistic object.
Throughout the exhibition, the forms of waves and mountains merge, becoming almost indistinguishable as the boundary between water and land gradually disappears. These are not merely depictions of nature, but traces of the creative process itself—slow, meditative, and patiently drawn.
About the artist
Kristina Žulkienė is a graphic artist whose work explores natural forms, the rhythm of line, and organic structures, combining highly detailed drawing with layered construction techniques.
Her works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Lithuania and internationally, including South Korea, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The idea behind the exhibition
In contemporary culture, artworks are often expected to carry a clear message that must be interpreted or explained. This exhibition takes a different approach.
These works demand nothing.
They offer no answers and ask no questions.
Instead, they invite visitors to pause, slow down, and simply be.
It is a space where one can rest from the constant need to interpret, understand, and define.
The artworks function as visual silence—a state of calm and comfort where the viewer is free to simply observe and allow their thoughts to flow as slowly as the lines that form these drawings.
