Tapestry is one of the most original types of applied decorative art and is exclusively the handiwork of the artist. The power and colours of the threads bring out the portraits of famous people in Lithuania, the shapes, lines and patterns are cultivated, the texture of the thread is felt with the fingers and the invisible world created by the heart is transformed into a vision.
As the author of the exhibition says, “Creation and weaving are the force that has given life wings and colours, that has lifted us up to endure hardships, difficulties, and hard times. It is the miracle of my being, speaking its own language.”
She works in the field of original textiles and has had over 40 exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. I. Piliutytė is a member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Union, the group of textile artists “ESAME” (Enthusiastic Union of Open Art Spaces). She has participated in all exhibitions organized by the group “ESAME” in Lithuania and abroad.
